Here is also a release about the report:

“David Culver
with WAVY-10 interviewed Phil Davenport, Interim Director of Public Works, along with Robert Gey, Traffic Engineer and Phil Pullen,  Transportation Division Manager, about the Lesner Bridge project and Phase III of Shore Drive.  They explained the need for upgrade and renovations on the Lesner Bridge, the work that has been done so far, and what will be done now that the Governor‚s proposal for funding has been passed and will allow the City to complete the project.  They explained that design, permitting and acquisition work will continue over the next 2 years and construction will start in Summer 2013 and will take 2 ½ years with completion expected in late 2015.

They also discussed Phase III for Shore Drive, a project that will go from the east side of Lesner Bridge to Great Neck Road.  Public Works is currently in the early design stage and will be working with the local community in the late summer/early fall to get their input in developing the plans.  The project is expected to take about two years with an expected completion date of Summer 2015.

Phil Davenport spoke on camera about the details of both projects, along with their current status and deadlines.

The interview will be part of tonight’s 6:00 broadcast with the working title:   “What does the future of Shore Drive look like?”   Their 5:00 broadcast will be
about interviews with citizens and others concerning the change in speed limit last year and if or what difference it has made.
